Some sessions are more than just work—they're deeply personal. That was absolutely the case this this in-home newborn portrait session in Greenville, SC featuring sweet baby Kat James.
Kat is the daughter of my dear friend Hayley, who I've known since childhood. We grew up together in Travelers Rest, SC, went to North Greenville University, and have shared so many seasons of life. North Greenville is also where she met her husband, Daniel—and now they're welcoming their second beautiful daughter into the world.
To be invited into their ome to photograph Kat's early days was truly one of the most meaningful moments of my work as a Greenville SC newborn photographer.
A Posed newborn session at home
While I love the natural pace of in-home sessions, this one was more structured—a fully posed newborn portrait session using my curated setups and props, all brought right into the comfort of their home. This wonderful option for families who want a polised, classic look without having to leave the house.
Kat was an absolute dream baby! She slept soundly through mose of the session and let us move through several wraps, headbands, and delicate setups with ease. her soft pink tones, creamy neutrals, and peaceful expressions made every frame feel like a page from a storybook.
big sister love—and a special birthday bond
Adding to the magic of this day was big sister Lily, who was prooud, sweet, and so patiend. She gentlyheld Kat in her arms for a few siling portraits that absolutely melted me.
Even more special? Lily and I share the same birthday—which made documenting this sisterly bond all the more emotional and full-circle.
