Charleston engagement session | Chalmers street, hibernian hall & Folly beach with bryson & Kathryn

There's something timeless about photographing love stories in Charleston, SC-and Bryson and Kathryn's engagement session reminded me exactly why I adore what I do.

After graduating high school in Greenville, South Carolina, this sweet couple made their way to Charleston for college. Kathryn enrolled at Charleston Southern University and Bryson attended The Citadel. Though they each started separate journeys, they were never far from each other.

With deep family ties to nearby Folly Beach, Charleston has always felt like a second home to Kathryn. So when it came time to plan their engagement photos, the choice was clear: this charming city full of history, romance, and coastal beauty would be the perfect backdrop to celebrate their decade-long love story.

starting in downtown charleston - chalmers street

We kicked off their Charleston engagement session on historic Chalmers Street, one of the city's last remaining cobblestone roads. With soft golden sunlight filtering through the oak trees, Bryson and Kathryn strolled hand-in-hand among the pink pastel buildings and gas lanterns that define Charleston's downtown charm.

Their connection was effortless. Every glance, every touch, was filled with ten years of shared memories-and excitement for what's ahead. It was the kind of light-filled, romantic start that every downtown Charleston engagement session dreams of.

Dancing at hibernian hall

From there, we made our way to Hibernian Hall, an elegant venue nestled in the heart of the city. It's white-columned portico and black-and-white marble flooring created a dreamy, classic Southern backdrop. Bryson spun Kathryn under the columns as if no one else in the world existed. It felt like a quiet moment pulled out of time.

As a Charleston, wedding photographer, Hibernian Hall never disappoints-it's where Southern tradition meets timeless architecture, making it perfect for couples who want that grand-yet-intimate feeling in their engagement photos.

Sunset on Folly Beach with millie

We ended the session where Kathryn's heart feels almost at home-her family's beach house on Folly Beach. Their sweet pup Millie joined us, bringing energy, snuggles, and sandy paws to the evening. It was relaxed, joyful, and full of laughter. Kathryn's flowing dress caught the sea breeze just right as she played in the waves with Bryson and Millie.

Folly Beach engagement photos are a favorite of mine, especially when they reflect a couple's true story. This part of the session felt like a quiet exhale-soaking in the salt air and dreaming of their future together.

Looking ahead: a spring wedding at summerall chapel

Bryson and Kathryn will say "I do" this spring at Summerall Chapel on The Citadel campus, an iconic location that ties their love story back to where it all grew deeper. I can't wait to photograph their big day and capture the next chapter of their incredible journey together.

If you're dreaming of an engagement session in Charleston, Folly Beach, or downtown's historic district, I'd love to help bring your vision to life. Get in touch-let's create something beautiful together.
